[hos] enters CyberGamer MW2 DOM ladder

Heads on Sticks - PC: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 DOM

A member of the defending team needs to host a match with the following settings:

Play -> Private Match -> Game Setup -> Game Mode: Domination
Then click "Game Rules", and make them the same as the following:

[hos] enters CyberGamer MW2 DOM ladder-cg_mw2_dom.jpg

Everything is default except for the following:

    Friendly Fire: Enabled
    Perks: Disabled
    Killstreaks: Disabled
    Killcam: Disabled
    Spectating: Team Only
    Score Limit: 500 Points
    Respawn Delay: 7.5 Seconds
You also need to put the match password on the server the same as the ladder page.

    Disabled Weapons/Attachments:
    Grenade launcher
    Heartbeat sensor
    Claymores
    C4
    Riot Shields

    Maps Removed:
    Rust

Challenging side always starts as Rangers.

Once you have set the rules correctly, you will need to invite all the players. You should just need to invite one of the captains from the opposing teams, they can then invite all of their team in.

Once everyone is into the lobby, you can start the game, IWNet will decide who has the best internet and they will host the match, so hopefully atleast one of the 10 players has a decent upload speed.

I don't believe there is a way for the players that join the server to verify the match settings. So, once the match starts it's easy enough to see if anything is not done right.

If there are any problems with the settings you need to tell the other team immediately and you can re-create the server. Otherwise it'll be assumed you are happy with the settings, even if they are slightly wrong and the match will count. Do not bring up a dispute for incorrect rules, as no match will be over-turned, the score/win will count.

so what's to stop teams screwing this over? eg: your whole team carts their gear to the house belonging to the guy with the slowest connection - he hosts, you all get good pings, your opponents dont?

what does IWnet do in that instance if half of the players have uber ping and the other half are shitful? and what can/do the competition runners do?

The challenged team must host the initial lobby, but IWnet still ultimately decides the best host, and to the best of my knowledge it does that by measuring upload speed. Ie; someone with AnnexM will almost always be the host.

It's far, far, far from perfect. And it'll mean the host always has a dramatic ping advantage. But it's the only way to do it right now.

ahh k, wasnt sure if it was the upload speed or the avg ping to that player that it worked on.

there are changes that can be made to show your actual ping: Modern Warfare 2 ? Online pingmonitoring - Blog - Dom Bryce

But who knows what IW will do to those who change registry entries.
