    monitor for photoshop, gaming, video's

    Gday all,

    I am in dire need of a decent monitor, and my choices at the moment are between the dell 2410 Dell UltraSharp and the dell 2711.UltraSharp U2711 27 inch Monitor with PremierColor Details | Dell Australia

    the problems I am having deciding are thus:

    2410 = $590 after 15% discount
    2711 = $850ish after OCAU group buy/discount.

    2410 = 16:10 (better)
    2711 = 16:9 (slightly worse)

    2410 = tilts to portrait orientation (v. useful for photoshop work)
    2711 = doesn't, but is bigger.

    2410 = 1920 X 1200 (computer should just handle it in games, maybe small upgrade needed)
    2711 = 2560 x 1440 (computer will need cpu, mobo, ram upgrade, possibly video also. around $400- $700 to run comfortably with games)

    so thats the dilemma i'm having.

    anyone got any input?

    That's what I've got. Def the best for gaming - 120Hz, 3D compatible. So smooth.

    Not so much for my graphics design though. The colour is good, but not great.

    Just get the U2410 man. It's by far the best bang for buck for what you want. Especially because it's got the features that are going to make you money.

    You will never tilt it portrait man. Well. Maybe once. I have the 2407 and 2408 - 2407 permanently in portrait - but only because of the two monitor setup.

    I can't vouch for the 27", I haven't seen the latest one. Every one I have seen hasn't impressed me, but I believe the latest model is a different ball game.

    U2410 ftw.

    If you are doing any sort of Colour work get the U2410. S-IPS panels have better reproduction than your shitty run-of-the-mill TN ones and its one of the few monitors out there that actually tells you anywhere in the specs that you are getting one. I have one and its such a nice monitor to use. at $590 its worth every penny. I paid more for mine even after 15% discount.

    thanks guys, doesnt help me much

    the 2711 is pretty much exactly the same as the 2410 only bigger and better, with those minor differences I mentioned above. definitely leaning towards it if I can get the 850 price...

    To be honest Dan for you, doin model photography the 24 inch is the easy choice cause of portrait mode. If i was doin model photography i wouldnt even consider the 27. I reckon you should pay the extra 400 and get 2 x24 inches and have one landscape and other portrait. For business the 2x24inch is the better choice in the long run.

    1 portrait and 1 landscape is what I recommend. So, so good for work flow, etc.

    This is my setup atm...
