    Local NAS sellers

Posted last year about getting a NAS for work ( the company i work for - not me).
Most people suggested i get a Thecus, instead of the QNAP TS-809 PRO NAS i got, now for the justification ( or just plain fracking bad luck)

The first QNAP TS-809 PRO NAS was DOA. Spent a total time of 3 hours out of the box trying to get the damn thing to boot, or anything would have been nice, spent a lot of time swearing and then boxed it back up and sent it back to PC Case gear teh next day.

QNAP NAS #2 ( replacement) arrived some 3 months later ( due to lack of stock world wide apparently) and I am about to send it back as it now has a dead sata slot. So my 8 disk array was fucked and non repairable and the data on it unsafe ( was running raid 6 with 1Tb HDD's).

Anywho, WHO in DARWIN would stock NAS's, prefer 7 to 8 HDD setup, or another idea for back up of Business documents that can be used daily (like a server or the like) local stock etc etc instead of dealing with people down south who make shit hard.
Or if anyone else has a better idea that will work with teh 8 HDD's i now have, that can be used in a Business environment that can give remote access ( upload and download) ip Camera setup and raid 6 that i can present as an idea to my boss if i can get a refund from pccasegear fro the NAS?

Why not just make a cheap dedicated file/backup server? Doesn't have to be expensive or grunty as you are only doing backups. Depending on the mobo you might need a sata exp card. Throw in a tape drive and at least 7 tapes, one for each day just in case your HDDs fail. Might sound a bit extreme but for a business it's worth it. At least with a server, because its a computer you can install your camera setup and setup remote access quite easily.
Jesus loves you... But everyone else thinks you're a dickhead!

Hook one of these Silverstone enclosures up to a cheap PC with an eSata socket: http://gamers-underground.com/tech-c...ht=silverstone

had nothing but joy with the this setup since I put it in place.
