Son, we live in a world that has rich media, and that media has to be delivered using a robust technology.
Whose gonna program that? You? You, W3C? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom.
You weep for open standards, and you curse proprietary plugins. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That memory leaks, while tragic, probably improve the web. And Flash, while bloated and incomprehensible to you, establishes a uniform delivery platform.
You don't want to use Flash because deep down in places you don't talk about at WWDC, you want Flash on the iPad, you need Flash on the iPad.
We use words like "scalable", "rich media", "robust technology". We use these words as the backbone of a life spent developing a dominant and standard technology to deliver content. You use them as a punchline.
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very content delivery system that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it.
I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you sit at a terminal and write code.
Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
