    1. Youtube uses flash. Most people who use the internet, use Youtube. That's a fact. It's by far the biggest source of video on the net and the most used out of all the video sites. It's also probably the most used embedded media too.
last i checked, a) my phone could use youtube. b) youtube is beta testing support for html 5 <video> tags, which will supercede flash for video streaming anyway. so there you go, THE BIGGEST source of video on the net and it will work FINE with the iphone

Well all those capitalists should just not bother trying to sell anything here, because it's just not worth it right? 21 million people... pffft.

Sometimes you can just admit that you're wrong man. It's ok.
you can try and present that statistic any which way you want - its still 7 million flash download requests out of hundreds of millions of page views. how many of those 7 million threw their phone in the bin after realising it couldnt display their shitty little flash game? how many shrugged, ignored the site, and kept on truckin?

No, their world didn't end. You speak like the internet is entirely flash. Why would their their world end, when it's a tertiary technology, used here and there (outside of Flash advertising). People want to use it, on some websites, not all. When you say X page views per device, most of the time those wouldn't have desired flash content anyway.

Oh, and I find it ironic that you tell us we "can try and present that statistic any which way you want", but you're the one who just made up some completely baseless figure (hundreds of millions of page views) to help your stubborn, skewed, narrow-minded argument.

i'd say the stubborn, narrow-minded view is the one that claims that lack of flash support means you can't use all the cool stuff on the internet. that'd be your argument by the way.

on the other hand, if it's only a tertiary tech, used here and there - what's the big deal about not including support for it?

at least i'm consistent. first you argued that no flash makes the ipad shit, then you argue that most people dont use flash. then you argue that flash is just a tertiary tech that doesn't see much use outside of advertisting.

its really hard to coherently discuss something with someone who keeps changing their point of view.

    - Lack of flash is just one of the things that brings the iPad down. It's not the sole reason.
    - I'm not sure where I said most people don't use Flash (quote please), I thought I had been saying the opposite. What I have been saying is that I don't like Flash.
    - It is a tertiary technology, and it sees plenty of use, just not nearly as much as non-flash websites. Which is why most page views wouldn't require it.

It's really hard to coherently discuss something with someone who is so blinded by their own ignorant belief that they can't accept some very basic realities regarding the topic.

which more or less amounts to the same thing.

now you're saying most page views dont require flash. which means flash is hardly necessary to use the web, which means its exclusion from a device isn't as big a deal as you lot want to make out. end of discussion really, as the logical inference is that most users wont need, or notice the lack of flash.

The iPhone lacks flash because it would offers competition to the Appstore as you could could use flash based applications instead those vetted by apple. Personally I think its time apple got hit with a few more competition notices across the globe.
