Ok, so now that I use Outlook Express for my e-mails, I also use HTML to make them. Still, whenever I'm browsing the internet, I get lots of pop-ups about emoticons and shit. So, yesterday I saw one with some pretty good-looking emoticons for OE. So I installed it (took like 5 minutes on a Athlon XP 2500+).
It said this in the ad:
"Add new emoticons to your Outlook Express through Hotbar"
What it didn't say is:
"Oh, also, it will install to Explorer.exe, and IE - it has a crappy interface, and spoils the look of everything. But hey, you can skin your toolbar. Only stupid teenagers do this though, cos it's not there computer, and they don't know how to get rid of all this shit"
So after spending a while working out how to get rid of the bastard, which involved restarting my computer WITHOUT explorer, I got rid of it. But here's the thing - I still want the emoticons!
So what I'm doing now is, changing my registry for explorer to something else. Since it installed to myexplorer.exe anyway, I just made another copy of explorer.exe, changed it to my_explorer.exe, and am using that when I next reboot. That should get rid of it from explorer (man that was gay, trying to browse my own computer!!). Now, I'm pretty sure I have a copy of Internet Explorer install on my computer, so that should fix that problem as well, I hope.
Then, I'm going to use Resource Hacker to hopefully get rid of there shitty interface, and leave just one button that says "Emoticons" in OE. I'm hoping this will work how I want it to, but I doubt it. I'm doing this now, 4:20 ESDT. But can anyone offer some hints or anything else I could've done, or if this doesn't work, could do
Thanks guys. Sorry about the long read.
