    League of Legends

Hey, I actually searched to see if there was anything on GU about league of legends and apparently there is not, so let's remedy this. I don't know if you've heard of lol or not, but it's a moba style game like hon/dota. It's the same genre but clearly a different style with persistent elements. Heres their website.
    League of Legends Index

You still start as level 1 every time you start a new game but you have your outside summoner profile which levels up, everygame you participate in you gain exp & IP which is the currency for the game and can be used to unlock new champions or buy runes, as you gain levels on your summoner profile you unlock rune slots one per level with a max level of 30 and these things can be extra health every level your champion gains during the game, more armor, or armor penetration or even more magic damage. It's very unique in that respect and they've done a great job balancing the fact higher levels won't instantly win you fights or even the game, as they are minor bonuses yet extremely good players will use them to the full advantage but skill still prevails. It's got full match making so you'll only be put up against people of a similar skill level and the usual queue time is about 30 seconds to a minute long at my current ELO standing. The more you win, the higher your elo gets and the better players you will be placed up against.

There is 43 champions currently, with new champion just being added today and the last one was added mid December. They patch very frequently and are always striving to fix balance and improve the overall game play. Just in the patch today they changed the metagame with the buffs, now in dota/hon your used to having a rune spawn every 2 minutes at either end of the river, in lol it's a bit different there are 2 golems, 2 lizards one type of each on either side of the map and by killing these special neutrals you gain a buff for whoever got the killing blow if your team killed them their neutral icon on the map will dissapear and it will return when they have respawned, but if the enemy kills them the icon never dissapears so killing them grants you control of knowing when it'll return. theres also a dragon which you might think of being the rosh/kong counter part but it gives global team exp and gold and requires a few people to do, then theres the baron which you could call the counterpart of rosh/kong but upon killing him it buffs your whole team substantially until death. I enjoy these mechanics because it's the same type of game but it's refreshing.

I've been looking for more aussies to play with as playing with a premade group is definitely a lot of fun, so this is why the post was made really as it seems the game is quite the enigma within a lot of communities and I think the game deserves a lot more attention than it's currently getting. Even if you're not interested in a premade the more players from Australia the better come competition time. Upon saying that the netcode is done really well and it's on par with hons netcode in terms of responsiveness and lag.

Since the game is absolutely free and you can get everything by playing normally but there are methods of using real life money but you can't actually buy power in this game. There is cosmetic skins which just change the colour scheme/look of a certain champion, or you can buy boosts which make you obtain more points in either exp or ip, but neither will make you godlike in game, it just makes you level slightly quicker, but the max level takes a few games to get to but it's a good curve for learning what will work for you. They are very strict on not being able to buy power.

Hopefully if you have any further questions you might ask about them here, I'd rather not get into a flame fest about hon/lol but there are strong differences and enough to warrant a try.

Feel free to add me in game same name as my account, I'll gladly help out if you start playing and you're unsure what you're doing. Theres also a tutorial there if you feel the need when you've loaded up the game, and not to mention you can grab the client off plenty of aussie providers, though since there was a patch today you'll most likely have to update another 100meg or so after completion. If you found this useful in anyway maybe you'll refer me if you decide to give it a shot https://signup.leagueoflegends.com?ref=4b4e70e74b9e0

Hope to see some of you in game.
