    Home was supposed to replace the XMB for those that wanted to. But alas; Sony deliver only broken promises.

    It's all subjective, but here's my basic take on it;

    Xbox 360:
    Same graphics
    More/better peripherals (bar the G25 wheel)
    Better exclusive games
    Far better online service
    Better UI
    Far more comfortable controllers
    Better charging options
    Headsets given away with Live subscriptions, cameras and chat-pads.
    etc.
    etc.

    And it has been this way since both consoles were available. Very little waiting around for the better stuff (if any).

    GT5 hasn't launched, Home is a waste of space as it stands, PlayTV doesn't do HD as promised (making it a waste of money/time), the controllers are uncomfortable etc. etc. etc.

    I could go on for ages. The PS3 for me has just been bitter disappointment after bitter disappointment. Always hanging out for their next great concept but they always over-promise and under-deliver. I'll miss LBP, Blu-ray, GT5 and the Logitech G25... but then again, GT5 might be a reason to buy another. For now there's no desire for me to replace it just so it can collect more dust.

    And you can talk about other great games all you like, I'm talking about well recognised and well rated "killer IPs" on a global scale.

    Glad I didnt get one now.... and with the 360 only $288 I think I may do that yet.

    biggest mistake i think sony made was removing backwards compatability, but then again sales of ps2 consoles might have something to do with this - they are more popular than ever.

    Yeah but you really need to carefully consider the application of use, Res. I know you do most of your gaming on PC, and if this device is mainly media orientation, the PS3 is still the better buy.

    If you're buying it for a fun games experience though, in my opinion it's the 360 and/or Wii.

    Well I got the Wii, the only reason I was ever considering a PS3 was for GT5 and MSG.

    Like you said its subjective, but I think the XMB is a much nicer looking and very classy interface.

    Please tell me tell what there is to have this assumption "More/better peripherals (bar the G25 wheel)" as I actually want to know :0. Personally I like the ps controllers they are "just right" for me, once again personal preference.

    A game doesn't need to sell well to be a great/killer IP most of the "great" ps3 games have done reasonably well and it consistently has been getting games that get great reviews on a global scale(not always sales). But yes the big 360 games have sold more then the big ps3 games. Does that make one system worse?

    Good point with the headset though, there is a lack of people that use them on psn.

    360 peripheral wise;

    - You can purchase separate battery packs, and then choose between a dock charger or a cable charger. I personally bought 4 batteries - 2 in the controllers, 2 on the charge dock. They charge quicker, and I just rotate them.

    - You have the option of an official wireless or wired headset. The wired ones come free with other purchases. The PS3 doesn't even have an official headset, and the third party Bluetooth options are flaky at best.

    - The chat-pad was released a long time ago, and is more ergonomic than the one Sony has just finished developing.

    - The camera was out long, long before the PS3 one.

    - I honestly don't know anyone (except you) who thinks the PS/PS2/PS3 controller is more comfortable than the 360 controller. Even Playstation fan-boy's on this forum agree MS has the edge there. And it's not just about being comfortable, it's about smart design. The concave analogue sticks are easier to stay attached to, and the extended concave back triggers make it harder for your finger to slip off, and have a great range of sensitivity.

    - The 360's media remote is unarguably easier to setup, as there is no pairing required. The PS3 isn't "hard" for you and I, but it actually is for your average tech-illiterate consumer. Another advantage is that because the 360's system uses infrared for its remote, you can actually use your home theatre's universal remote to control the 360 instead.

    As for games, I personally think the big Xbox 360 exclusives are better than the PS3 ones. A quick re-cap comparison through my eyes;

    Playstation-exclusive franchises - Gran Turismo, LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid (although even MGS will be going multi-platform by the look of it). I think Resistance/Killzone/God of War/Heavenly Sword/Motorstorm are plain shit, or are awesome for 30 minutes and then get real boring.

    Some big upcoming exclusive releases for the PS3 are Killzone 2 (meh), God of War III (meh) and Gran Turismo 5.

    Xbox-exclusive franchises - Gears of War, Mass Effect, Forza, Dead Rising, Project Gotham Racing and Splinter Cell. However, I do think Halo, Ninja Gaiden, Perfect Dark and Fable are crap.

    Some upcoming exclusives for the 360 include Banjo-Kazooie 3, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Left 4 Dead and Alan Wake.
