Your Dream System

everyone has one. if you had silly amounts of money and zero common sense, what computer would you fork out the big dollars for?

heres mine:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 (3.2Ghz/12MB/1600FSB/EMT64/XD/Quad Core)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45T-EXTREME S775, P45, FSB1600, DDR3, 2xPCIEx16, SATA2, 2xGbLAN, ATX
RAM: Corsair TWIN3X4096-1600 4GB (2x XMS3 2GB) PC-12800 (1600MHz) XMP DDR3 RAM, 7-7-7-20
Video Cards: 2 x ATI HD4870X2 (CrossfireX)
Hard Drives: 1 x 300gb Raptor (boot), 3 x Seagate 1TB
Optical Drive: LG GGW-H20 Blu Ray Burner & HDDVD Reader
Sound Card: Asus Xonar D2/PM
Monitor: Samsung 30" 305T-Plus
Case: Zalman GT1000
OS: Vista Ultimate 32bit
Keyboard and Mouse: Logitech G9 and G15
Speakers: Creative GigaWorks S750 7.1
PSU: Silverstone ZM1200 1200W Power Supply

so, quad-core, 4gb ddr3, quadfire, 3.3TB of storage. only $11,300 on scorptec too!

also case is frucking ugly but looks like the easiest to work with.

I'd probably go the same rig 'cept for 3 adjustments.

- 2x 24" Dell LCDs instead of one 30"
- 8Gb RAM
- Vista 64bit

My dream PC would consist of good speakers (ie; not Creative or Logitech) and a less than ****-ugly case. :P

also the p45 chipset doesn't have full 16x on both pci-e, so your crossfire is taking a quick trip on the failtrain to failtown, where it will fail.... Why not dream into the future and the x58 chipset

maybe. gigabyte seem to think that the second gimpy pci-e slot will do the job.

# 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16
# 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8
(The PCIEx16 and PCIEx8 slots support ATI CrossFireX technology and conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard
still, now i have to find a better motherboard. any suggestions?

Sure itll do the job, a half arsed one at that though. Look at any benchmarks of a P35/45 compared to x38/48 and there'll quite a large difference with crossfire performance.

I'd dream of an Amiga Technologies 4000T with factory '060, Cyberstorm PPC604e with 128MB RAM (4x32MB 72pin SIMMs), a Village Tronic Picasso IV 4MB RTG card with optional Paloma IV TV Card, the Pablo IV video encoder, and the Concierto sound card, a XSurf network card with Subway USB plugged into the clockport, front card reader, and enough SCSI-III disk space for all of my disk images and software to be stored locally....
