If you run Vista 64, install all the windows updates then install ReadyDriver 1.1 - It adds about 3 or 4 seconds to boot time but disables driver signing for you on boot by automatically selecting the option from the boot menu. It can be interrupted using F8 like normal. Its what I use since MS broke the registry hack to turn it off.
As for performance, 2GB to 4GB is a huge performance jump, especially in loading times, 4gb to 8gb on the other hand is just fluff and epeen. One thing to be careful of, running 4 Modules will make it a little harder to overclock and some boards spit the dummy at 1T command rates when you use 4 chips.

well theres nothing to worry about I wont be doing any of the overclockig of any of it, anything listed there as overclocked will be done so by the builder (I assume) and I still get a 3 year warranty. As for the RAM there will only be two 2gb chips. as for vista 64 that was only gonna happen if it would improve game performance with the 8 gb but seeing as that much is waste I wont do it so regular 32 bit will be purchased.

Thats what ive done for the time being.
Vista Home Premium 32bit and 4Gb, also running 512b 4870 and it seems the computer registers 4gb of ram ..... I do know everything says you need the 64bit version to properly address the 4gb and higher, and have ordered teh 64bit dvd.... currently i still havent had any dramas with the above setup yet.

So I will need 64 bit to use all the ram but all the ram will most likely not be used, being pretty much just a gamning rig, will there be any issues with anything that i might use on a 64 bit OS eg games, ventrillo, internet, movies, images, music or codecs ?

See pic.......
How ever in task manager it does show Physical Memory Total @ 3325 MB, Cached as 2372 MB and Free 69mb Which is why ive also ordered the 64bit version - then i have to make sure everything ive now got running on the 32bit will work on that.
