perfectly stable, ever since nvidia released decent 8800gtx drivers.

there's no compelling reason to upgrade if you already have xp, but there's no reason to pick xp over vista if you're buying a system, shrug.

I've had vista now for about 3 months and while I have had some issues and BSOD's they have been few and far between and no more then I expierenced with XP SP2.

I agree with Paladin, if your doing an upgrade and can get the OEM version then do it.

Stable...its the 3rd party drivers that are the issue. A lot of companies have left it to the last minute to make drivers...and others are just starting to think about it now.

i have been running Vista Ultimate 64 bit and found it stable and compatable with enough to keep playing BF2 and 2142 as well as movies and browsing...

stable enough but more third party drivers would be good.

I would not upgrade for the sake of it if you have an existing XP which runs OK . as there is little performance increase or new features (besides the "pretty" aero scheme. It does require a big lump of RAM (4gig +) is recommended for gaming.

But i would buy it on a new PC.

Had the miss fortune of reinstalling it on my bosses new laptop. And the lack of drivers and ****in useless support from certain hardware vendors ( todays quote "ill call you back shortly when 'gavin' gets back" - BAH ) all sucks massive amounts of a certain body part.....

There are some very cool features ,and it looks hella pretty but thats about where it end for me. Its only half of what M$ actually promised some years ago.....

I have a copy or 2 but have never gotten around to installing it.
And really dont think i will for quite a while yet, both my systems run fairly stable on xp sp2 - might think about it next time my pc shits itself ( or i upgrade) but in the interim xp does everything i want and i can find drivers and software to do what i want

edit -auto expletive thingy v cool - no need to **** around with icons and asterixs any more

I don't know about stability, but I'm the kind that waits for a Service pack before installing, regardless.

Same as Milenko, for anything major like an operating system I would wait until the first service pack gets released.
