I've got some questions:
1) Where is it held? Casuarina campus? 2) What games? I don't have many, and I doubt you would be playing the ones I have anyway (eg. UT) 3) Never been to a LAN before...what do I need? 4) Would the fact that I have a measly GF2MX prevent me from playing whatever games you're going to play? Any other advice/info would be appreciated. I guess I'm too much of a n00b to LANing to prepare for something in a few days, so I'll probably have to try for the next LAN. |

oh yea have things like Chips, coke, Pillows etc. coz usually the lans go for a while as for the games im pretty sure you could "borrow" any games that are being played. just ask around, or look on people computers for the different games that might be played. oh yea UT rocks PS. the type of games usually played at a lan is like: UT, UT2003, Counter-Strike, Quake3, C&C Generals, Desert Combat & BF1942, Starcraft & WC3, Diablo 2...all sorts and yeah its held at the casuarina campus on top of the basketball court

Okay, that sounds kind of simple actually. I take it I'll also need to bring my monitor/speakers etc. Coke/food supplies, no problem. Deodrant/nose plug? I've heard nasty things about the hygiene levels at LANs
Problems are: No network cable (would there be any spares to be had?), and only one game. Would 'borrowing' games from someone there be frowned on? Also, do they have any 'sales' there? I mean, are any hardware components sold? Like I said, I know little about LANs |

Basically it's not as big as your average DGA, so it's a good place to begin if you're new.
You will need: Your computer, with monitor, mouse/keyboard, and network card. A network cable. Your own powerboard. We generally only supply one power point per person. We give you the a/c room, the comfy seats and tables (we're saving up for more tho - the tables situation is less than ideal), the TV with Cable, a BBQ ($1 snag & bread), soft drinks ($1 a can), other people to play with, and a whole bunch of leeching and gaming. Your computer should be alright for most of the games played. It tends to follow the number of people there and who is playing. For instance our second LAN was quite big and a lot of Desert Combat was played. Other LANs have varied in size and included games of Diablo II, Warcraft III, Counter-Strike. One time we even brought consoles and a second TV and lots of people played Marvel vs Capcom 2.
