LAN Lord - Position Available
OK guys, as you probably know by now, I have moved state and regrettably can no longer run the Freedom LAN events. I am going to take it upon myself to find a replacement LAN Lord, so if you are interested in the position, send me a pm.

The duties involved are the setup/packup of the network, booking the venue, sorting out the barbecue, sorting out food and drinks, and making sure you keep a record of whats spent where so the money box can be balanced at the end of the event. I have been informed by Jaques that the arduous task of hauling tables and chairs from building 21 is no longer necessary as they will be provided by a hire company (presumably Darwin Party Hire).

The person who takes on the role should have at least a minor understanding of networks and needs to be of a patient and reliable nature. They also need to have a calm and friendly attitude, be moderately organised at least and be available to be there from 3 on Saturday afternoon to 5 on Sunday afternoon once a month to run everything.

I hope to get some interest quickly, as I dont want to see the LAN stop because I'm not there.

Just a quick addition, the trestle tables we'll be using from now on come from another department of the university. They will be delivered to the lounge, so no heavy lifting or carrying required (yay!).

Ok, i have put alot of thought into it, and i think I could run Freedom LANS.
But then again, freedom lans are for the gamers... so if any of you freedom LAN junkies can give some advise (Espically the people who run the event) that would be much appreciated

Neotheo, I ran the Freedom lans for a long while, and it is not that hard...

Especially because there is heaps of slav.... willing helpers you get to boss around, The only reason I stopped was becuase of work comitments, which I no longer have, if you want to get into the spot, I will be more then willing to show you where everything is, and how to set it up good . Overall its pretty rewarding, and even tho for about 6 months I couldnt bring my comp down, I still had heaps of fun, every time I was there
