World's new hottest pepper

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20058096/

If you think you?ve had a hotter chili pepper, you?re wrong.

The smallest morsels can flavor a sauce so intensely it?s barely edible. Eating a raw sliver causes watering eyes and a runny nose. An entire chili is an all-out assault on the senses, akin to swigging a cocktail of battery acid and glass shards.

1 Million? Ive eaten stuff with a 1.5 million rating, its hot as **** but thats a little overhyped.

Edit: To clarify, it wasnt an actual chilli so much as a sauce with a higher rating.

Yeah I've had higher rating stuff too, but sauces, not an actual chilli. 1 million is still huge though - Tabasco is 1240 scoville units, to put it into perspective.

Rosso (from the radio talk show) was over in the states and tasted the sauce rated at 16 million scoville units, which has a warning on it regarding the potential for fatality if more than a drop is consumed undiluted. Needless to say, he didn't have much good to say about it.

Keeping in mind that literally a few drops of whatever I had (brought back from Canada) sent my face into heated pain and cramped my stomach like you wouldn't believe. Couldn't speak properly for a while, very light-headed for the first few minutes. And I bet you it was not even remotely close to this 16 mill stuff - I believe it was around 2 million.

On that note, I've also had a vindaloo here in Adelaide that was so hot it also left me speechless, and messed my vision up too. I was so overwhelmed by the mouthful of chilli seeds and sauce that things became a blur for a short period.

Insane stuff. Mmmm... chilli.

Edit: check this list out!

Yup, and aside from being insanely hot its nice too. its not so much the intensity of the heat as it is the fact it wont go away that makes those things insane. I could handle hotter easy, but it's the non going away heat that makes it nuts.

I love chilli's and try find hotter and hotter ones at restruants that will make my eyes water. I just love that tingly feeling on your lips.

The hottest one I've tried was in a small asian restruant in melbourne called Asiana. Only needed to dip the end of the chop stick in to get enough for a whole dumpling.

For something different i have had a chilli liquor, i can't remember were it is from, apart from australia either VIC or NSW.
