Considering all of my pro-Belgian beer converse lately, I thought I'd throw this in to stirr up the pot...
When I can't get my hands on a Belgian beer, this is what I'm drinking. You're right, it's not a lot like a Belgian ale, if anything it's English, but has a strikingly strong and full flavour which I've really grown to appreciate. It reeks of malt and hops; you can almost taste it before taking a sip. Like the Golden Ale, it screams boutique, and is perfect for changing things up but definately not a session beer as the taste can become tiresome after a few. It's quite complex but well-rounded. You'll taste nuts, fruit and florals. Served cold it's quite refreshing, but for the best flavour having it served a bit warmer than most pubs have it on tabe would be recommended. I'd almost say it's my favourite Australian beer, if only I didn't get sick of the taste after so few at a time. http://beeradvocate.com/im/beers/1861.jpg Edit for swamp rat: Price per stubby is $2.40 at 1st Choice Liqor/Dan Murphy's

Boutique means specialty or fasionable... generally demonstrating unique and exclusive characteristics.
It's not a "normal" beer.

Xaine; Just for shits and giggles, I picked up a stubby at Dan Murphy's as I had to get some Belgian Beer for a dinner party tonight.
I didn't pour it into a glass so can't discuss aesthetics, however the aroma is near non-existent. What you can smell isn't really rich in any distinction, and is not dissimilar to other entry-level brews found locally. It does have a smooth mouth-feel, but that was where the approachable traits of this brew stopped. It tastes sweet and sports a tinny aftertaste with resemblance to household chemicals... I'm not sure if beers get much worse than this, but it's one I'd flat-out recommend avoiding. Dragon; I was just down at Dan Murphy's and it appears they had most of the range. In Sydney they're found on tap at almost every pub, but aren't so prominant anywhere else.
