Immediately the pour will have your attention as the amazing deep brown colour fills the glass and the bubbly head that creates a beautiful lacing.
Gulden Draak brings to life the fruity aroma and taste of cherry and plum with a bald malt finish which leans towards a caramel flavour. At 10.5% this one is definately a sipper, and has a great mouth feel. I sat back with my feet up at my local Belgian Beer Cafe in the sun for upwards of half an hour drinking the one glass, and I can't have imagined a better way to experience it. I'm becoming less and less of a Tripel-esque fan though, as strong fruit flavours often present aren't always my thing, but denying this brew if its superiority would be silly. An a-grade acomplishment and definately worth trying if you haven't. It's perhaps the most well-rounded (appearance, aroma, mouthfeel and taste) brew I've had yet, but ensure you drink it at 10-15 degrees celsius because anything below just won't do it justice. http://beeradvocate.com/im/beers/155.jpg Edit for swamp rat: Price for stubby at Belgian Beer Cafe was $14, unsure of price per stubby from bottle-shop.

I love Boag's Premium Lager - one of the better aussie brews, my faovourite lager, but I'd still choose a Coopers Pale Ale ove rit.
If you're looking for something a bit boutique, try James Squire's Golden Ale, Amber Ale and Little Creatures Pale Ale. All awesome. Edit: it's probably worth mentioning that Amber Ale from James Squire is probably my favourite Australian beer as far as full-body and flavour go.

Gunz; Indeed. If I were in Belgium I probably wouldn't appreciate it nearly as much as I'd be over-exposed to its greatness without really having to endure the awful stuff that the rest of the world is subject to.
Thankfully, because I live elsewhere and most of the population is generally dealt relatively poor brews, lacking flavour complexity and aroma diversity, most of the beer-conoseiur world agree with the general notion that Belgian brews are the best there is. If you're looking for lager or pils, there are great offerings in a range of countries. If you're looking for Stout, Ireland is generally the place. But if you're a fan of dark ale, then Belgium is the place to be... and that's me. Beer to Belgium is what wine is to France or vodka is to Russia. The quality of their product is testimant to that. You don't knock wine from France, and understand why people all around the world rave about it, and this is the same sort of situation with beer in my opinion.

Oh, also, with no disrespect to Coopers or Little Creatures, Duvel is also from Belgium and is without doubt the best pale ale I have ever encountered in my years as a beer drinker (over two as an imported beer drinker).
