Skyrim is the latest installment in the Elder Scrolls franchise, and after over 40 hours of play, we finally feel we have seen enough of the game to justify a balanced review. While it received almost universal praise from critics in early reviews, Skyrim is not a game without issues. But whatever its flaws, the scale of the world is undeniably impressive, with enough content to rival many MMOs.

Almost unbearably slow to start, you are eventually introduced to a world filled with the type of adventure and drama that a good RPG needs. The High King is dead, murdered, the land gripped by civil war, and an ancient evil has returned to rain fire and ice from the sky. What more could you ...

2011 brings us Modern Warfare 3, the third in the series and the eighth major Call of Duty title. In it you will as and alongside numerous characters in numerous units, some returning from previous games, on a mission to bring an end to a global conflict that has been masterminded by a single ruthless psychopath.

If it were a film it would be a popcorn flick at best and at worst inexcusable b-grade rubbish. But because of its delivery as a game, like the previous Modern Warfare titles, it's yet again quite a spectacular all-out action interactive experience. But is it as good as its predecessors?

RAGE is the latest title from the studio that pioneered the first person shooter, six years after their last major release. In it you awake as the lone survivor of an "Ark", a century after 2029's Aphophis asteroid impact turned the planet into a wasteland. The plot is unashamedly unoriginal, but it's not the just the world of RAGE that id Software has been working on for half a decade.

"Taking heads off with the boomerang-like Wingstick might have been my most satisfying exploit."
RAGE is based on the new id Tech 5, a flexible cross-platform engine designed to run across all major gaming systems ...

F1 2011 is Codemasters' second officially licensed Formula 1 title, delivering a number of season oriented updates such KERS and DRS, as well as co-op multiplayer, 16 human grid places in online races and the introduction of the safety car. The question on everyone's mind is: are these improvements enough to warrant another $50 purchase just 12 months after the excellent F1 2010?

I've had a bit of a system upgrade since last year and to my pleasant surprise F1 2011 was very accommodating. Without any prompting the correct triple monitor resolution was selected for my three Alienware AW2310 displays, as was the 120Hz refresh rate. The menus are intelligently presented on the middle ...

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad has been out for around about 12 hours now, and I've been stuck into multiplayer with a few Gamers-Underground.com forum goers during the evening. If you were waiting on another opinion or two before a purchase, read on; I've got one for you along with a review score for RO2's multiplayer.

Despite having no expectations for this title, my first impression of the game wasn't good; a server browser that would crash me to desktop, and refused to refresh after a failed server connection. I gritted my teeth as I finally began loading into a local games.on.net server, and quickly crossed my fingers in the hope that ...

By the time I could decrypt Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Steam I had already been salivating for many months. Developer diary reveals and pre-release reviews showcasing the gorgeous black and gold cities of the future, cyborg-like augmentation and arsenal upgrades had sent me into a sci-fi spin.

While only a temporary feeling, firing up the game for the first time would have had me regretting my purchase, if I didn't get it for the ludicrously low price of $27. Why? Well, the engine is unarguably lack-luster. From the last-gen graphics to something as seemingly simple as mouse sensitivity configuration, there was a profound sense of disappointment. ...

Say hello to our first Necreview, where GU has a look at games we should have reviewed months and years ago, or in this case over a decade ago. Recently Good Old Games and EA announced a deal to give 25 classic EA titles the GOG.com treatment. Among the many gems in this collection is "Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri", which we have thoroughly enjoyed replaying this past week. ...

A fun little multi-mode strategy game, "Dwarfs!?" offers some novel, if not entirely unique, twists on the bread-and-butter indie gaming styles of Exploration and Tower Defense. Offering 7 game modes, Dwarfs!? provides a surprising level of depth and replayability for its modest price tag. ...

Boy, have we waited a long time for this installment of Duke Nukem. Almost too long. My memories of Duke Nukem 3D remain fond, but after 14 years I have to admit that even those are becoming vague. It's certainly late, but might have been just in time to save the Duke. Of course, the grand question is; does Duke Nukem Forever have what it takes to do so? The first couple of reviews out of the blocks say "no", but I don't think it's quite that simple. ...

I'm not sure exactly where to start, or how to say it nicely, so I'll start with a very blunt statement and continue to explain why thereafter: Brink is a disappointment. That's not to say it's an entirely bad game, but for me the bad far outweighs the good. ...
