• Atkinson: gamers scarier than bikies

ABC's Good Game have had the pleasure, or displeasure, of interviewing South Australian Attorney General Michael Atkinson. Unsurprisingly, his paranoid ignorance has delivered another few gems of conversation, including his explanation that he feels his family is more at risk from gamers than the motorcycle gangs who also hate him.

I'm certain that bikers state-wide are up-in-arms that they've been likened to such a broad demographic of society. Who knows, maybe they'll now want to make a point that they're far scarier minority than Atkinson suggests...

[In] contrast with cinema, with interactive games, people are actually doing things. One can go to the cinema and see someone beheaded, and one sees it as a passive viewer. I think it can do harm, but we permit it within certain restrictions ... in interactive games, the person playing is doing the action, therefore I think it has a higher impact and impact is always been a consideration in censorship or classification, call it what you will. ... You've seen the kind of material that R18+ gamers are circulating ... I don't know who sends me this filthy material, but I get my electoral office email spammed. About two o' clock in the morning I got a threatening note from a gamer shoved under my door. I feel that my family and I are more at risk from gamers than we are from the outlaw motorcycle gangs who also hate me ... the outlaw motorcycle gangs having been hanging around my doorstep at 2AM. A gamer has.

he's still trotting out that note?? would still like proof that it WAS a gamer, and not a canny biker with an understanding of the nub's irrational fears.

Funny I fell more threatened by politicians than bikers.

Haha! Got a good laugh out of that. Don't be, though. They're often just sheltered individuals with personal agendas of power and wealth anyway. Let's hope some more of them follow the biker trend, and blow themselves up?

Well clearly, the threatening messages at 2am under his door are from gamers. Gamers stay up late on computers thinking of ways to destroy society and the fact bikies wouldn't do such a civilized thing. Stereotype much =]
