How to open your Strict NAT type for Modern Warfare 2

    2 precursor notes:
    • Having a "strict NAT" setting should only negatively effect hosting, not joining games
    • If your router and PC support UPnP (and are correctly configured), your NAT should already be "open"

Anyway, long story short, I've got a Billion router and couldn't be bothered trying to trouble-shoot UPnP not working; MW2 saw my NAT as strict.

    The quick fix is:
    • Set-up a static IP for your machine (I enforce this using my router's "Fixed Host" setting, binding an IP to my NIC's MAC address).
    • Then, simply forward 28960 UDP/TCP to that IP. This is the same port COD4 (original Modern Warfare) used.

Hey-presto! You should now have an open NAT in MW2. Enjoy.

in that case, if you have gameranger, just use it since it has the setup already for COD4
